What is "Moment Lys"?

MomentLys photography is all about the moments I capture showing all the natural emotions and movements we express. They are not just moments to take a photo but moments experiencing something new and enjoying every moment. I chose the name MomentLys because everyone calls me Lys and my vision for what moments I want to capture with my camera, to me, are one of a kind and a moment you don't want to miss. I don't want you to loose a moment you could be experiencing something. I want you to be Moment Lys and feel everything around you and let me capture what that looks like. "Living in the moment" has always been a phrase I try to live by and I want to bring that to my photos. If you have an event or moment you want to be captured, I will not miss a single second of the shoot. It is so important to me to capture all the meaningful moments in our lives.

I have never been a fan of having a stranger take my photos. I never want anyone who gets photos by me to feel like a stranger. I want to know you, why and what you want me to photograph, what you want to achieve through shooting with me and most importantly I want you to feel comfortable being around me. I don't just want you to feel comfortable. I want you to feel happy, confident, free and natural during our shoot. I promise during every shoot I will capture all natural little moments that occur. I will never pose anyone uncomfortably nor will I ever allow a fake smile. My goal after every shoot is to have YOU feel great about yourself and more than satisfied with your photos.

ABOUT ALYSSA BRINEGAR
Photographer & Videographer
My name is Alyssa Brinegar. I am a starting photographer and currently a college student. I come from a family that has always been deeply artistic and I use my artistic ability in several ways.
Personally, I used my artistic abilities to show what emotions I was feeling at that moment and to release anything negative. I drew, painted, photographed, created videos and even randomly put on a full face of artistic makeup. After finding my passion in photography, my whole world became about photography and what interesting photo I could take next.
I have a passion for art and recently have become more and more interested in doing as much as I can with photography. I have chosen photography to be my passion, vocation and job. Although I am still learning, I enjoy creating photos that show the trueness of people. I used to get so annoyed at school photos. I had to cock my head, stiffen my back and show this ridiculous smile in order for the photographer to approve. I will give them credit, not all made me look uncomfortable but I would like to take photos of and for people so they have something to look back on so they can see and feel how natural they look. I want people to feel emotion by looking at my images. I want them to look at their photos and not feel posed or forced.
I believe the expressions of peoples faces tell a story. Those expressions could display your love of family, tell a story and show how they are their own individual and no one else is like them. I don't take photos just to take them. I take them to display who you truly are as a person, as a family or as a couple. I hope I can take your pictures next!

FUN FACTS ABOUT ALYSSA
Fun Fact
I am the eldest daughter of Kim and Jeff Brinegar. I also have two younger siblings named Olivia and Alex. Olivia is a dancer for SJA and Alex is a catcher on his baseball team.
Fun Fact
I have a German Shepherd named cooper who is now 7 years old. Cooper likes to come in my room late at night to keep guard and sleep while I stay up until 2 a.m editing photos:) Cooper also likes to run into my door most mornings thinking I am awake and will hear him.

I have a boyfriend, Austin, who I have been dating for over three years and love very much. He does not enjoy photography as much as I do but supports me and comes to help at some of my shoots:) (He won't say it out loud BUT he secretly loves taking photos with me.)

I graduated from SJA in 2019 and began my business in 2017. My Honors Art teacher was the one who encouraged me to start my business in high school. Forever thankful for her!

I love children! I used to baby sit often then I worked at an after school daycare. Some of my favorite memories are working with kids or babysitting. I absolutely ADORE my cousins who are all between the ages of 2 to 11.

I am a perfectionist! I work on one project for hours to days to weeks long until it is perfect and I will not let anyone see what I am working on until it is completed. I work very hard to look at everything I do from every possible angle so I don't miss any detail.
ABOUT MY IMAGES
How I edit
My photos are all edited the same. I focus on warm tones and making images bright and light. Oddly enough I used to take dark, faded and slightly gloomy looking photos before I decided to start up photography as my profession.

When I began photography, I liked making a story out of my photos. I wanted people to ask themselves, "What is going on in that photo?" or "There is so much emotion, what does this mean?" Basically, I wanted to make people think deeply about what is going on in my images and why they were so dark and ominous. I still try to achieve that in my photos now but in a different way. I used to photograph dramatically and dark, where now, I focus on the light and how colorful my images are. I do not ever want to make photos too colorful but just the right amount so that one feels happy and light when viewing my photos. I brighten up the people I photograph, remove blemishes and other object that appear in the background that shouldn't be there, enhance certain colors and brighten eyes to see their detail. I want people to be reminded of the little moments and how important they are in our daily lives.
